Supporting, Enhancing and Promoting Disc Sports in Colorado Since 1992.

Early this spring we were approached by a magazine that highlights the best of Colorado, West of 105 Magazine. We wrote an article and submitted pictures of disc golf in Colorado and are now treated to a finished article in their Spring 2019 Issue. They have listed disc golf as one of the top 20 things to do in the state this season, in their Colorado Spring Bucket List.

Here is the article in the magazine: https://issuu.com/westof105/docs/spring_2019_west_of_105/a/160178

This is the CDSA State Champion trophy. I got it from the previous president at HPC in 2011 and gave it to Joe, after he won the 2011 State Championships. We will be getting updated because the last date on it is 2007. As you can see, there are the names of some of the best disc golfers in our state and country on there: 2004-Jordan Cowles, 2005- Chauncey Donaldson, 2006- Mike Randolph, 2007- Dave Feldberg. Here are the missing names that will be added this year, before the 2012 state championships: 2008- Dave Feldberg, 2009- Cale Leviska, 2010- Joe Rovere, 2011- Joe Rovere.

Finally arranged the Thin Air Tour Awards Celebration, for this years 20th TAT anniversary. We'll be meeting at Old Chicago on South Colorado blvd at 2pm this coming Sunday 12/9/12. Here's the event page with all the details.

This will be our annual Thin Air Tour Awards Celebration for CDSA Members. We won't be doing a Skins tournament this year because of weather.

We'll be meeting at 2pm at Old Chicago at 1280 S. Colorado blvd, this coming Sunday 12/9/12.

Come and have some pizza and a beer to celebrate the wonderful 20th anniversary season of the Thin Air Tour we all just played.

I really apologize for not getting the 2012 Thin Air Tour points totaled up yet. We had over 40 members this year so it's a lot to deal with. However I am making great strides and will have them completed and posted this coming weekend. I decided to move the date of the CDSA Awards Celebration and Skins Tournament to SUNDAY, DECEMBER 9, 2012. There are 2 different events that came up on the same day we were originally going to do the awards celebration and I don't want to take anyone away from participating if they want to. I do feel bad for moving it because the original skins/awards date has been on our brochures and website all year. Of course ...

I am very happy that the CDSA can act as a conduit for the general public to ask about disc golf and any other frisbee sports and also an organization for the media to pay attention to. Such was the case when The Denver Post did an article about disc golf in August 2012, as a result from multiple CDSA press releases. I thought it was one of the coolest things I've ever seen, when the very top left corner of a major news publication like The Denver Post had the words, "Exploring Disc Golf's Cool Factor"! This is exactly the kind of exposure disc golf needs, to help the general public understand that it is a legitimate sport that is exploding right now. I've been sending ...

Who wants to be on TV? Fox31 has contacted the CDSA to do a couple live segments about disc golf this coming Thursday morning, May 10. This will be for their Good Morning Colorado show and will be live on TV at both 7:45am and 8:45am. I have decided to do the shoot at the Johnny Roberts Memorial DGC in Arvada. This course provides the best access for a satellite truck that's close to a tee and a couple baskets, as well as a beautiful park.

So this invitation is open to any and all disc golfers who want to be on TV. Please come help represent the sport you love and show how cool it is to the whole front range. Please wear decent, respectful clothes...

The CDSA supports enhances and promotes disc sports throughout the state of Colorado. One of the things I would like to see is the local Colorado clubs using this website as their own. I have selected this Ning network platform for this purpose. The main benefit being that any user can add content and we're not tied to one person to make changes to a website. There is an approval process in place, so we won't have spam posted.

Each individual club can have it's own members with separate email to only club members or everyone, separate discussion forums for their members or everyone as well as full Twitter and Facebook integration. As long as there a...

2012 is the 20th anniversary of the CDSA and I'm hoping to make it a great one! I would love to have discs, mini's towels, shirts and maybe other stuff, to have a cool 20th anniversary logo. I am experienced in Photoshop, but I know we do have some artists in the disc community as well.

If you have the time to put together some sketches or even a full color finished piece, I would greatly appreciate it. It would be wonderful to have a few examples to review at our board meeting on Saturday, February 11th.

I am open to any design that you come up with. I would like to incorporate the new CDSA logo, the Thin Air Tour, 20th or 20th anniversary, and something Colorado like the mountains....

I wanted to let everyone know that I have gotten the CDSA Thin Air Tour points all updated, including Johnny. This next weekend is the State Championships which is the last even in the 2011 Thin Air Tour. So I figured it would be a good time to let everyone see how they are doing. I guess in the future all this points tabulation might be automated somehow. But for now it's just a manual process, by myself. So I appoligize for not being as speedy as I would have liked to be, with the points updates.

I'm attaching the PDF to this post.

I sent out a bunch of press releases from the CDSA before the event and in turn, the 3 biggest TV stations as well as the Grand Junction Sentinel newspaper came out and made news stories of our event. I wanted to say a big THANK YOU to the 11 new CDSA members that signed up in the last couple weeks! Everyone who play's disc sports in the state thanks you too. The more members we have, the better the sport is for everyone. Not only does more members mean bigger and better awards for the Thin Air Tour, but also it means more support for the Basket Donation Program, promotion of the sport through this website, press releases and brochures and also support future education programs.

I have made your cards and mailed them out with a brochure and 2010 champions mini. They should be showing up in your mailbox soon.

Thanks again,

Matt James

GET YOUR TEAMS TOGETHER FOR THIS YEARS CDSA THIN AIR TOUR!

We've added another component of the 19 year running, CDSA Thin Air Tour. In addition to competing individually, we are now doing teams competition. You will need a Team Captain and Co-Captain and a roster of 12 players in pro and amateur divisions. Basically, 2 pro’s and 2 am’s compete as a team, in each individual round of all Thin Air Tour events. Team Captains determine who in the roster of 12 players per team, should play which individual round(s). Winners will be based on total scores. So if the 2 pro’s shoot a total -8 under par between both of them and the 2 am’s shoot +8 over par bet...

I've beeen asking tournament directors of 2011 events, if they would like to have their events on the CDSA Thin Air Tour. I have received a few "no" responses, with our economy as the reason. I can totally understand and they shouldn't feel bad about it. I certainly do NOT want to take money away from tournaments. That's just counter productive. CDSA Thin Air Tour events should have a lot of players and money coming in, in order to give back to the CDSA to help support, enhance and promote our growing sport.

At This point, there is only 1 tournament that might still become part of the 2011 Thin Air tour. That is the Bloom at Beaver Ranch ...

I'm sorry to say that we have decided to cancel the 9 Hole Challenge Series. It was a lot of work for not much gain or benefit. We didn't have very many people show up. In fact, the most people we had come to any of the NC9HC events last year was 9. I'm grateful to those who did play the inaugural series last year. It was indeed a lot of fun! But the fact remains, as long as I am doing all the work to keep the CDSA running, I can't do two different series of events again this year.

Once we can get more members and good people who are interested in helping out, then we can look at starting the 9 Hole Challenge series again. I'm not against a separate series of events at all, like I s...

The date of the first 9 Hole Challenge event for CDSA members only, has changed from Saturday April 2, to the next day SUNDAY, April 3. I haven't really advertised this series yet, even though this first one is coming up soon. There is a new fundraising event for the CSU Disc Golf Team that has been set for Saturday, April 3. So I wanted to accommodate anyone who want's to support the states only college disc golf team and move my date to the next day.

Here is a quick link to the CDSA 9HC #1 Event Page.

Please respond on this forum if you had already planned on this date for the CDSA 9HC #1. I'm hoping this date change isn't a big deal. But don...

Well the ball is rolling with full steam. I have gotten our 2010 champions mini's ordered, setup the 2011 PayPal memberships button and added 99% percent of all the disc events into our calendar. There are only a couple more events to add, once I confirm their specifics. I've reworked the CDSA Thin Air Tour Sanctioning Agreement and am working on the 2011 Press Release so I can get it out for Grateful Disc, now a little more than a month away.

I've gotten our bank accounts in order and have almost complete reviving the old Columbine Memorial Fund. I don't think we should do anything with that money right now, at least I don't have any idea's for it. I just wanted to make sure it is ...
