Teams Competition in Thin Air Tour Events Specifics

GET YOUR TEAMS TOGETHER FOR THIS YEARS CDSA THIN AIR TOUR! We've added another component of the 19 year running, CDSA Thin Air Tour. In addition to competing individually, we are now doing teams competition. You will need a Team Captain and Co-Captain and a roster of 12 players in pro and amateur divisions. Basically, 2 pro’s and 2 am’s compete as a team, in each individual round of all Thin Air Tour events. Team Captains determine who in the roster of 12 players per team, should play which individual round(s). Winners will be based on total scores. So if the 2 pro’s shoot a total -8 under par between both of them and the 2 am’s shoot +8 over par between both of them, than the team gets a 0 even par for that round. It’s all about teams playing players within the ratings guidelines, during each round of the tourney. The idea is to give everyone a chance to play, when they can show up. As long as the team fits the ratings guidelines, they can play more or all their players.

Must be a CDSA Member to compete in a team. Once you join CDSA, you will also receive individual Thin Air Tour points towards individual awards as well team awards and of course bragging rights.

Any one player can only be on one team and a player can’t go from team to team during the season.

Total maximum team roster can consist of up to 12 people.

Teams need designated Captain and Co-Captains.

4 Players per team compete in each round of all TAT events

Teams must use for each round two Pro and two Am players.

Only rounds where all divisions play will be counted

Must have average total ratings for the group.

- Ams average = (still need to figure out average rating for Colorado from PDGA)

- Pros average = (still need to figure out average rating for Colorado from PDGA)

( We might wait for this and do just the players that are on the teams)

If your team of 4 players for each round does not equal the ratings average, than your total score for that round goes plus or minus strokes, based on the guidelines below.

01-10 points Above ratings average = +1 one additional stroke

11-20 points Above ratings average = +2 two additional strokes

21-30 points Above ratings average = +3 three additional strokes

and so on…

01-10 points Below ratings average = -1 subtract one stroke

11-20 points Below ratings average = -2 subtract two strokes

21-30 points Below ratings average = -3 subtract three strokes

and so on…

Teams will get a total score of all 4 players, for each round of how many strokes above or below par that they earn. For example if the two pros shoot a total of -8 under par and the two ams shoot a total of +8 over par, then the team has a total score of 0 or even par for that round.

If a team cannot commit 4 players for any round, the missing player(s) will take the average score of his/her division for that round.

Teams can use any players within the ratings guidelines during the tourney. This would give all their team members a chance to play, contribute and be a part of the experience. We encourage teams to try to play all their team members at least one round per event.

Team Captains have sole responsibility, to be delegated to the Co-Captain if the Captain is not available.

Team Captains have to hand in a roster to Matt or other designated CDSA official for each round with pro and am players names and ratings, before the tournament  rounds start.

We envision corporate teams or sponsored teams with special team shirts or whatever. The sponsor will be required to pay for the entire team of 12's CDSA Memberships.

Ratings sometimes evolve for players throughout the season. So we will allow team captains to change out up to 4 of his/her team players, every 3 events.

If a team player gets injured or incapacitated in other ways, the team captain can substitute another eligible player, am/pro, CDSA Member. The captain must inform the CDSA administrator before the round starts.

Thin Air Tour awards for both individual and teams, will be a minimum of 60% of the total memberships from this year. The more memberships we get, the better the rewards for everyone!

After we find out how many teams are going to compete, we might do trophy tags for the all the winning team’s players that competed. These would be given out at that event’s awards ceremony or maybe the next Thin Air Tour event’s players meeting.

It’s all about teams playing players within the ratings guidelines, during each round of the tourney. The idea is to give everyone a chance to play, when they can show up. As long as the team fits the ratings guidelines, they can play more or all their players. Remember, nobody likes to sit on the bench, we are there to play!!! There will be some teams that are playing to WIN and some teams will be more interested in participating and have fun with their friends.
